Meet the drones! A behind the scenes look at hobbyist radio controlled multicopters and flying them by video. In this panel you’ll get to see some examples of these flying robots and gain an understanding of how they work. You’ll get an overview of some basic concepts and then we’ll look at the components and describe what’s involved in building one and operating it safely. This panel will be of interest to people curious about this new technology and are considering trying it for themselves.
Calvin Martini is a hobbyist radio controlled aircraft pilot who lives in Riverview, New Brunswick. He has been actively building and flying multicopters and flying them by video safely and responsibly for four years. Calvin has been involved in the larger RC hobby for thirty years. He is a member of the Model Aviation Association of Canada and participates in the First Person View and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle committees.
The workmanship judging process has changed. When you register for any category that isn't presentation you pick a time during your categories given time slot. Report to the 8th floor lobby for that time, meet the judge for your level and do a one on one with them about your costume. You must do both this and walk the stage.
All workmanship judging happens on Saturday Nov. 8th between 11am and 4pm. Presentation only category entries need not attend.
Junior (both categories): Anytime from 11am til 4pm
Novice: 11:00am-12:00pm
Journeyman: 12:00pm-1:30pm
Artisan: 1:30pm-3:00pm
Masters: 3:00pm-4:00pm
This talk will examine the history of pushing the boundaries of format, starting in print, with Watterson (Calvin & Hobbes), and pushing forward to the present day. It will expose non-comic artists to a variety of webcomics they may be interested in, and there will also be some technical details and considerations for comic artists as well.

Sign up will be at Costume Contest registration desk on the second floor near the top of the escalators. There is no fee. There is an entry limit so sign up early to ensure you get to participate. Costume Contest Registration will close once entry limit has been reached regardless of time or day.
You can only sign up during sign up times, there will be no last minute entries allowed.
